Buffalo River Here We Come!

A-O-Buffalo!

Buffalo River-Here we come!

So, every April marks that time of year-our annual Buffalo River Trip.  The Buffalo River is America’s First National River.  It is there that each year we seek refuge; and only there, in the town of Yellville, Arkansas, that the cabins which were built by the Civilian Conservation Corp. back in the 1920’s replenish us with long overdue rest and relaxation and a sanctuary which nature alone can provide.

But although it has undoubtedly been one of Bruno and his sidekick, Daphne’s, favorite vacation spots, they have not been in what is coming up on three years. See, Bruno and Daphne unfortunately had been boarded the last couple visits.  It had been Vinnie, one of their four sons, whom had overcome a brush with death (due to acute kidney failure) whom had trumped them.  Being that my husband and I consider the Buffalo River- this pristine nature spot-a top ten on our “bucket list”-it had been Vinnie who had been the last two years, instead of Bruno and Daphne-until now.

So, who goes this year? You ask.

Bruno.

His sidekick,  confidant, and amor fidelus-Daphne.

And, once more-Vinne.

Are we crazy? You ask.

The answer:  Possibly.

So, tomorrow we head out four our four day adventure. And, I can’t wait.

As we prep to go, I am certain that Bruno can sense that several days filled with nothing but napping and eating and fishing and listening to the call of the wild are just around the corner.

My sun-worshipper boy, Bruiser Bruno ,with be able to take afternoon naps by the meandering river and his soul will be free as ever by the Buffalo River once more.

Hi. I am Bruiser Bruno, a 7 yr. old American Bulldog who has lived the most wonderful life. Currently, I reside in beautiful NW Arkansas (alongside my soulmate and bestgirl, Daphne, and our four handsome and rambuncuous boys) with my wonderful parents, JD and Maricela. We all moved to Arkansas about three and a half years ago.But honestly, I would have to say that I consider myself a true Texan at heart- since that's where I mostly grew up. Yee-Haw! I am however originally from California. What can I say, I like to travel. **Bruno's spirit was set free, as he crossed over Rainbow Bridge, on 12/31/12. He faced his battle with cancer stoicly & with awe-inspiring courage. No matter how bumpy the ride, it was one which I could have stayed on forever. I am grateful for "EVERY" moment I was lucky enough to have shared with him.

  1. Welcome to Tripawds! I replied to some of your questions in my response to your comment on Charley’s blog.

Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers to Bruno! If his lonely met remains single and stable over 1-2 months, I think the can remove the nodule. You may want to ask your onco about that. When the met or mets are stable you can remove them with a good outcome. Lily on Bone Cancer Dogs is a 4+ year survivor and had a lobe removed 3+ years ago.

    Never give up hope!!! 🙂

    Hugs and chocolate labby kisses,
    Ellen & Charley
